Maths with CG. Curtis Gregory Maths Tutor

Tutoring since 2016
70+ great reviews
£25 per hour

Having invested in my teaching equipment, I am able to deliver excellent quality lessons both online and in person. I have been tutoring since 2016 and have been a full-time Maths Tutor since 2020.

I can help with KS2, KS3, GCSE, 11+ and Functional Skills Maths. I can travel to you for face-to-face in Halesowen and surrounding areas. Alternatively, I can offer online tuition via Zoom.

Lessons are paid for on a pay-as-you-go basis after each lesson. I do not charge for cancellations. I also have a 100% satisfaction guarantee so you will get a full refund on up to two hours of service if you aren’t happy… no questions asked! Feel free to ask me for a copy of my DBS certificate.

Students will typically be guided through past exam papers. However, if there are any individual topics the student is struggling with or is a difficult homework assignment, I would be happy to help with that instead.

Is online tutoring as effective as face-to-face tutoring?

No. Especially with maths it helps to be able to see what the student is writing or is inputting into the calculator. However it can often be more affordable and flexible than face-to-face and gives a better choice of tutors.

Can I guarantee a higher grade?

No. Although it is more effective than studying alone, tutoring cannot guarantee a higher grade. However, it does increase the chances.

Are notes available from each lesson?

Yes. All notes from every lesson are saved and can be provided in PDF format.

When should a student start tuition?

Ongoing tuition starting as soon as possible is the only way of getting the best possible results. Many tutors get fully booked later in the academic year so to secure your chosen tutor it may be best to start as soon in the academic year as possible.

How often should tuition take place?

Typically, students go for weekly tuition. I cannot usually offer any less than this unless they are one off lessons. More than weekly will obviously mean more content covered, will boost the rate of progress, and will increase the chances of getting a better grade.

What is the most effective way of using a tutor?

During the lessons, students should explain to the tutor what their thoughts are as they go and (in online lessons) what they are writing down.

Why do we even need to study Maths?

"Mathematics is a creative and highly inter-connected discipline that has been developed over centuries, providing the solution to some of history’s most intriguing problems. It is essential to everyday life, critical to science, technology and engineering, and necessary for financial literacy and most forms of employment. A high-quality mathematics education therefore provides a foundation for understanding the world, the ability to reason mathematically, an appreciation of the beauty and power of mathematics, and a sense of enjoyment and curiosity about the subject." - The National Curriculum.
